Owning property, trust rights, land, or a house in Mexico requires the correct visa. Without it, you could face legal issues and risk losing your assets or rights. Don’t let this happen to you. Ensure you protect your property and rights by maintaining the appropriate Mexican visa.

Temporary Resident Visa in Mexico

Thinking about living in Mexico for more than 6 months and up to 4 years? Then the Temporary Resident Visa is just what you need. This long-term, renewable permit grants you temporary resident status, allowing you to work and travel in and out of the country without restrictions.

To obtain this visa, Mexican authorities require proof that you have sufficient funds to support yourself in Mexico and/or a stable, verifiable income.

Application Process

  • Place of Application: You must apply for the visa in your country of residence. Exceptions include:
    1. Having close family members in Mexico.
    2. Applying for residency for humanitarian reasons, which allows you to change your status from visitor to resident without leaving the country.
  • Steps:
    1. Application in Your Home Country: The process begins and is initially approved there.
    2. Arrival in Mexico: Register at the local immigration office within 30 days to receive your visa.
    3. Passport Stamp: Upon arrival, you will receive a 30-day tourist stamp. Make sure to go through immigration at the border to obtain it.

The Temporary Resident Visa can be granted for up to 4 years. It is renewable annually, but after 4 years, it cannot be renewed. At this point, you will need to apply for a Permanent Resident Visa or leave the country.
